Teresa's Biography
Born in the mountains above Santa Barbara, Dr. Dismuke knew from an early age that she wanted to help others. Taking psychology and sociology classes in High School, she realized these were really the only classes that sparked her interest. So, after attending classes and obtaining her AA in Psychology at Santa Barbara City College, Dr. Dismuke left the state of California to pursue her undergraduate and graduate degrees in Oregon. Seeing that there was a split between psychology, spirituality and society, Dr. Dismuke felt a need to combine emotional healing with spiritual growth and cultural understanding. She has worked for years creating her own style of healing integration in regards to the whole being....mind, body, spirit and heart. She strongly believes they cannot be separated, and when they are, healing cannot be complete. Dr. Dismuke is a Board Certified Professional Counselor with the American Psychotherapy Association and an Arizona Certified School Counselor.
Dr. Dismuke then focused on her other love, being a singer/songwriter. She and her family lived near Nashville, Tennessee where she recorded and performed her original songs, for several years. She also lived for a time in Western North Carolina before moving to Arizona. To date, Dr. Dismuke has recorded four albums of her original songs.
Dr. Dismuke began working and living on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Arizona in 2001, where she spent her off hours pursuing her Doctorate in Psychology. She also began to write her book "We Were Meant to Fly: Women and Healing". This book has recently been published and made available to the public. It shares the vision of assisting women who have been abused to become whole, healthy, happy, productive beings.
Teresa's desire and goal is to create her own home-based business helping others and helping the earth. She plans to offer consulations and workshops related to women's healing issues, as well as offer other services to her clients and the public.
